eGFR estimates how much blood your kidneys filter each minute. It's one of the earliest signals of kidney health, and it can drift for years before you feel anything. Enter your creatinine, age and sex to see where you stand.
Enter a creatinine between 0.2 and 15 mg/dL (18 to 1,326 µmol/L).
Enter an age between 18 and 110.
Creatinine and eGFR are both included in every Insyght draw.
Kidney disease is diagnosed only when results stay low for more than three months or other signs of damage are present. One result is a snapshot, not a diagnosis.
eGFR stages at a glance
| Stage | eGFR (mL/min/1.73 m²) | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| G1 | 90+ | Normal filtration |
| G2 | 60 to 89 | Mildly decreased |
| G3a | 45 to 59 | Mild to moderate decrease |
| G3b | 30 to 44 | Moderate to severe decrease |
| G4 | 15 to 29 | Severe decrease |
| G5 | Below 15 | Kidney failure range |
What can affect your eGFR
Creatinine comes from muscle, so anything that changes muscle or creatinine load changes the estimate.
- Can read lower than true: high muscle mass, creatine supplements, a large meat meal or hard workout in the 24 to 48 hours before your draw, and dehydration.
- Can read higher than true: low muscle mass, frailty or a plant-based diet.
- Not designed for: pregnancy, children or sudden kidney injury.
If your result surprises you, retest well hydrated after 48 hours without hard training or creatine.

Kidney decline is usually silent. Insyght measures creatinine, eGFR, BUN, electrolytes and urine albumin in one draw, reviewed by a physician. $199 a year.
